The Neverending War (modern war)

"As it just so happens soldier boy no it is not," Kara answered crossing arms and legs. "There was once a point in time where i was spectacular. I could make even the roughest, toughest, most stoic man turn into pudy and have him singing me the most gushy of love songs." Karas eyes took on an edge and she chewed on her cheek. "it appears i have left my prowess slip, this is unacceptable. im gonna havta work on that."

Andre chuckled. "I don't doubt it."

Kara raised an eyebrow at him. "Watch it soldier boy or ill just have to make you my first guinea pig."

"Is that a challenge?" He couldn't help but murr, his tails swishing behind him. A foxish grin came to his face and he looked her up and down.

Now both eyebrows rose, a sexy smile growing over her muzzel, eyes sparkling with typical gypsy mischief. "maybe it is soldier boy," she cooed, laying one arm in her lap while the other sat on her knee, biting her index claw.

"Well, then, I have a feeling it'll be rather interesting to find out." He flashed her a wink, then took his gaze back to the ceiling.

"Hmmm," Kara hummed mind already churning up ways on getting this soldier boy to crack.

Andre continued to stare at the ceiling, his own thoughts churning through his mind. Finally, with a grunt, he threw off his covers, awkwardly enough to discover the doctors had not clothed him, and he got up out of the bed and began to search for some clothes. "I'm going to go find Crystal, see if she's okay."

Kara lifted her chin to scratch at her neck, an impassive look on her face as she watched him. "you're not a shy one, are you soldier boy," she more stated then questioned.

"Not particularly. It's just a part of my anatomy, and I'm sure any audiences around have probably seen similar before regardless." He mumbled as he looked about the room. "Where the bloody hell are my clothes?"

"ahh anatomy," Kara sighed with a dreamy look in her eyes, "how wonderful it is."
"here," came an irritable voice, cloths suddenly thrown into his face.
"Anaa!" Kara said in surprise. "what are you doing here?"
"the idiot doctors here finally saw Crystals stone arm and freaked," the dead to the world looking snow leopard grumbled, plodding to the cot next to Kara and flopping down. "speak in more then a whisper and your lips will be sown together."

Feeling ballsy enough to test boundaries, Andre sent a thought at Anna saying; "What if I speak to you in your head louder than a whisper?" while giving Kara a toothy and mischievous grin.

Anaa growled, tail thrashng. She got up and plodded over to the lieutenant with a blank expresson. Without looking up she pinched a spot in his back with her claws cutting off all ques from his bain to his legs making them buckle. "I'll do that. Next time itll be a pain center." She plodded back to her bed and colapsed.
Kara pulled an 'uhoh' face and quietly stood. "Ill take that as a que for leaving," she whispered. She tiptoed away, trailing a tail across Arashis hip as she went passed throwing a wink and a grin over her shoulder at him.

Andre cringed and bit back a yelp as Anaa made her assault. He watched her warily as she went back to her bed. Well, Kara's bed, commandeered by Anaa. And he couldn't help but be entranced by Kara as she left the room, throwing her flirtations at him. He felt himself blushing and grinning, and he had to look away. Once she was gone, he looked over at Anaa, his heart suddenly growing heavy. He rolled over in his bed and made himself comfortable, closing his eyes to perhaps go back to sleep.

Kara sauntered her way through the hospital looking for something to do. she somehow found her way outside where she found Hyro sitting on the stairs. with a mischievous grin she took a seat next to him. "this spot taken?" she asked with a sweet smile.

Hyero's ears set back and he looked up at her nervously. "Uh... No, not particularly." He said as he scooched over for her to sit at a distance from him.

Kara chuckled as she watched him. "i don't bite you know." still smiling she took a deep breath of fresh air and look out around them. "its been quit a long time since I've been on this side of the mountains." she glanced over at him. "done much traveling Hyro?"

"Can't say I have. Kindof ridiculous considering I've had a couple thousand years to do it..." He grumbled. "It's not easy to get out of this town."

Kara started, "couple thousand?" she was about to ask how that was possible but instead clamped her mouth shut, looking away and shaking her head. "you Arashies are a strange bunch," she chuckled with a rye smile.

Hyero couldn't help but chuckle. "I don't disagree. We've got enchantments and magical manipulations to our genetics that go back to the birth of the planet. That's the whole reason for this war. As soon as the Dracus figured out what we are, they wanted to eradicate us, fearing for their own species on their planet."

Kara raised an eyebrow at him. "never heard that before. then again I've never asked. i don't really care why the wars going on," she got a mischievous grin and her eyes sparkled, "i just like teasing the ugly gits."

Hyero chuckled and shook his head. "You should start to care about this war. If it continues the way it has been, the Dracus are going to overrun the planet again."

Kara gave him a puzzled look, "again?"

Hyero took a deep breath before beginning his story. "During the first thousand year war, our race was still primitive. He didn't have ships, vehicles, guns... We lived in small farming villages and illustrious castles. Well, I shouldn't say 'we,' I wasn't born yet. But, regardless. The Dracus came into our atmosphere with their massive ships and their futuristic weaponry, slaughtered our armies and enslaved our people. All of the technology we possess is because of that first war. Most of the advanced cities are built on the rubble of the cities the Dracus built during their occupation."

Kara shook her head, frowning, "why haven't i heard any of this? i mean I've never asked anything about the war but you'd think I'd at least hear something even just in passing...."

"People try to pretend it never happened. Besides, the only ones that know the fine details of the war are the ones who were alive when it happened and still living today, which is just my father and his siblings. The Dracus made sure to destroy any of our records that were kept during that time." He crossed his arms and rubbed his shoulders nervously. "I can't imagine how it must have felt to live back then, and be the only person the world could rely on to save it..."

for once Kara was silent. with a small frown she looked away from him and out over the land turning what hed said over in her mind. Her ears pricked as a sound reached her, growing stronger. "You guys expecting a delivery or do ships often go over?"

Hyero's ears perked as well and he quickly got to his feet. He started scanning the sky for the source of the sound, but couldn't quite spot anything. "As far as I know we aren't expecting anything today." He replied nervously.

Kara slowly stood staring ahead toward the sound. "i don't know about you love but I've got a bad feeling about this..."

"I never have a good feeling about anything." Hyero admitted as he stood and moved to see if he could get a better look at where the source of the sounds might be. Finally he found it, far off in the distance. "God damnit. It's a fucking Dracus battleship!" He turned and rushed past Kara to hurry and get his father.

..."Normally id say 'let the fun begin' but...I gotta feeling this aien't going to be so much fun," Kara said, tilting her head and blinking at the ship. "Oh hey wait!" Kara exclaimed chasing after Hyro. She caught him just as he retched the door to the ward, wrapping a hand around his muzzle and an arm around his waist from behind jerking him back around the corner. "Shhh!!! Anaa's asleep in there!" she hissed in a whisper in his ear. "You barge in there and wake her she'll likely turn you into mulch for her garden!"

Hyero frustratedly forced her to release him. "I don't care! This is no time to sleep! If she wants to stay in bed and relax, she bloody well can, but I know my father is going to want to be out here to do what he can if this thing plans on attacking!" He yelled at her, then forced his way past her again and burst into the ward to rouse his father.

Kara tried to shush him and tried to re grab him but failed and decided to hide until after Mt Anaa cooled down.

On instinct Anaa shot half up out of bed and threw a throwing knife at the noisy intrusion taking off some whiskers and nicking an ear. With smoldering eyes she hissed, "There better be a good damn reason for you to be barging in here like a herd of elephants."

Kara jumped and grimaced with a stifled yelp as a throwing knife came out of the ward to stick fast into the wall across the hall.

Hyero hissed at her and held his ear. "I'll take none of your egotistical crap, healer! There's a Dracus battleship floated a few miles outside the city and it's coming this way!"
Andre quickly stirred from his sleep and got to his feet, though his body massively protested to him, dropping him to his knees. "Fuck! A Dracus battleship?! NOW?! I'm in no condition to fight a fucking army."

Anaa's face went completely blank as she got to her feet. "I am not being egotistical. I am being tired and crabby." She yawned hugely and glared at the lieutenant. "No you are Not in any condition to fight Period and should stay put so you dont do anymore damage. Ive already done 10 hours of surgery on your sister and would rather not have the need to do so to you."

Andre gingerly held his chest as he sat there on the floor. His sides pulsated with pain and he found it very hard to breath. "Did I... seriously get injured this badly?" He gasped, trying to catch his breath and beckoning Anaa over to help him back up, much to his chagrin.

Anaa hurried over and poked and prodded his spine for a moment before helping him back onto the cot.
"Not originally no. Your sudden flailing about did a little damage to the nerves in your spinal cord. lay still flat on your back, hopefully that will realign everything without you needing to be strapped in to the board, or worse."

Andre cursed numerous times as he laid back onto his bed with Anaa's help. The last thing he wanted to do with a Dracus battleship looming overhead was lay here like a cripple.
"What are we going to do?" Hyero asked, his voice nervous, as he looks over at Anaa. "If they begin to siege the village, neither of them can stay here. They'll be killed. That's probably why they're here. But how did they find out..." He folds his arms over his chest and begins gnawing at his claws.

Anaas ears flattened and her eyes narrowed.
"I know that look," pipped up Kara who was finally brave enough to enter the ward. "That's the 'I gotta plan look."
Anaa turned her look on Kara. "Yes. You fit to help?"
Kara shrugged. "You're the one that stitched me up."
"Ok then. Time for a little distraction. Think you can handle that?"
Kara's chin tucked slightly, eyes narrowing and ears half flattened with a smile that border lined the expression as evil. "Definitely."
Anaa nodded sharply then looked to Hyero. "Would you like to help us or do you wish to help the medics look after the moving of the injured?"

Without hesitation, Hyero offered to help them. "Of course I'm going to help you! If your distraction doesn't go according to plan, you're going to need someone who's thoroughly trained in combat around." He then looked over at his father, who deigned it better to just keep quiet or he would get himself worked up. "Besides, my father can offer assistance to them medics if they need it without so much as moving a finger."

Anaa nodded again. "Kara. you know what to do. Your pack is under your cot. I must speak with the doctors on moving the charges."
"Right!" Kara yipped. She leaped over Aashi, diving under her cot, getting to her feet on the other side before leaping over both cots, grabbing Hyero's hand and high tailing it out of the ward her pack over her shoulder.
Anaa looked to the lieutenant. "I am sorry lieutenant but letting the problem heal naturally will be much less time consuming then hurting yourself worse, surgery, and recovery. I am sure those here will be in great need of your help and be very grateful for it."

Hyero yelped as he was dragged out of the ward by Kara. "Where are we going?!" He demanded, "I can move myself, you know!"
Andre simply nodded to Anaa in silence. He was clearly upset about being so incapacitated. "I will do what I can..."

"We're going to go have some fun with the Dracus is where we're going love," Kara laughed happily pretty much so flying down the front stairs still holding onto his hand. She tore down streets, dodging around people with yips of ''scuse me! pardon me!" finally coming to a stop about a mile or two away from the population right in line with the nose of the ship. At last she released his hand, dropped her bag and began changing out of her costume into a dark blue cloth practice outfit perfect for running in. "Ready for the fun Hyero?" she asked grinning to herself.

Anaa nodded and started to walk away only to stop and look back at him. "Is there a way you could keep in touch with Hyero? Just in case."

Hyero stumbled along behind her as she flew through the streets holding onto his hand. Her polite and hasty apologies were echoed by his own. As they reached the outskirts of the town and she changed outfits, he watched her shamelessly. He flushed when she addressed him, and he nodded, slapping the fist of one hand into the palm of another. "It's been a while since I've fought the Dracus. This isn't the most dangerous parts of the world, and I get pretty bored." He laces his fingers together and pushes his palms outward to crack his knuckles, then he cracks his neck, stretches his arms, and jogs in place for a moment as he pumps himself up. "Let's kick some ass!"

Andre nodded silently to Anaa and tapped his head with a finger. "We share a mental link. So long as he stays within twenty miles of the city I should be able to stay in touch with him."

Anaa nodded and turned on her heel. she could be heard barking orders in the hall.

Kara shielded her eyes, judging the distance before taking out a long stringed spinshot and loading it with a brightly colored ball.
"bulls eye!" she yiped triumphantly as a huge cloud of sparckling red smoke appeared in the ships path blocking it from view, quickly ducking down to rummage in her pack. "aha!" she straightened with a snap, red velvet drawstring bag in hand which she opened and peered into. "knew there was a reason for bringing these."

From behind the wall of smoke made by Kara's little shot, a bright light shines through. Electricity crackles through the air and a hum vibrates the air. Not moments later, a beam of pure energy fires directly at the village, cutting through the large metal wall surrounding it as if it weren't even there. Hyero stops dead in his tracks and stares with horror in the direction of the village. As emotion wells up within him and eventually overflows his body, he screams out in anger. "Nooooooooo! You fucking bastards!"

"Yipe!" Kara jumped in surprise and looked wide eyed from the hidden ship to the village. "Wuhoh better get movin." she dumped the bag and little metallic flying incescts fell out to hover three feet above the ground. one flew up to perch in her hand. "whats that ship mostly made of yeh think?" she asked Hyero.
